EXT. ST. AUGUSTIN CHURCH - DAY

We see the beautiful European, 1800s style church gleaming
in the daylight making it look other-wordly.

The church bells RING a few times, echoing in the
atmosphere in deep synchronic tones. Almost magical.

INT. ST. AUGUSTIN CHURCH - DAY

SALVADOR AMBRIOSO, (38), a man of intimidation, a man who
has been through a rough time; a man seeking something in
his life. His eyes show it.

He kneels down at his pew with his hands clenched together
to his forehead. He prays under his breath. Concentrating
in a sort of way.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
I ask you heavenly Father to help
me find the right path. To help me
get close to these evil people and
put an end to their vile ways
          before more innocent lives are
          destroyed.

He does the Holy Cross on himself.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO (CONT'D)
In the name of the Father, the Son
          and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

                                                                    21.

He gets up and sits on the pew. He takes out a picture from
the inside of his breast pocket.

A single tear rolls down his cheek. He wipes it away.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO (CONT'D)
          Mijita, encontrare los
          responsables. Mi querida, te
          vengare. (My little daughter, I'll
          find the ones responsible. My
          love, I'll avenge you both.)

In the picture, his WIFE, his 10 year old DAUGHTER and
himself. Smiling at the camera. Loving.

Salvador looks completely different in this picture. He is
clean-shaven, dressed well and shorter well-kept hair.

The new Salvador is the complete opposite. He’s got a five
o’clock shadow, medium messy hair and clothes that he seems
to have been wearing for more than a week, or it hasn’t
been cleaned.

Salvador kisses the picture, lovingly, and puts it back
into his inside pocket.

An old PRIEST, FATHER SOCORRO, in his late 60s walks up to
Salvador.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          Is everything okay, son?

Salvador wipes away another tear.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
I’m okay, Padre. I’m okay. The
Lord will show me the way.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
If you need to talk to me, son, I
will be taking confessions in a
          couple minutes.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
Thank you, Padre, I would like
that, but right now, I need to get
back to work. Maybe next week.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          Very well, my son.

Socorro blesses Salvador with the Holy Cross.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          Thank you, Padre.

                                                                    22.

Salvador walks away.

Socorro turns to Salvador, watches him walk away through
the doorway of the church.

The daylight breaks in through the doors, making Salvador
look like a shadow who enters some sort of vortex. He
disappears in the daylight.

Socorro makes his way to his confessional booth and enters
it.

INT. ST. AUGUSTIN CHURCH - CONFESSIONAL BOOTH - DAY

Socorro sits in his chair. Closes his eyes and prays to
himself. He does his rituals before starting confession.

SOMEONE walks into the confessional and sits himself down.
We don’t know who it is yet, but it IS Salvador. Just not
revealed until later.

He sits down and gets on his knees. Puts his hands,
clenched together in front of a small window opening. His
face is hidden in the dim light.

Socorro opens up his side of the window.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
Now let us bring into the light
anything you want to give in to
          God’s mercy.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
Forgive me Father, for YOU have
          sinned!

Socorro does a double-take.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          Excuse me, my son.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
How long has it been since you
          last confessed of your sins,
          Padrecito?

                    FATHER SOCORRO
My son, I am blessed with Our
Lord. He speaks through me for
          you. I have no sin.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
How many days? How many weeks? How
          many months? How many years?

                                                                    23.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          Son, I don’t think you
          understand--

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          I didn’t notice it at first, I
didn’t want to believe it, Father.
Believe me, I didn’t, but when the
good Lord shows me the Light, and
trust me padre, He SHOWS me. I
          must obey His commands.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
I’m not sure what you mean, my
          son.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
I’m not your son. You’re not my
          Father. You’re an incarnation.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          Excuse me?

Socorro looks around, worried. Sweat begins to pour out of
his forehead. He wipes it off.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
Your soul has been infected by a
          tremendous evil, Padre. You are
trapped in there, but it’s not too
late to save you. The evil that
succumbs you has trapped your soul
for many years. It's within you.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
I think that’s it for today.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
I will absolve you of your evil
essence trapped in your shell. How
long has it been since you last
saw your own reflection? How many
times have you avoided it? 1 Peter
          5:8. "Be sober-minded; be
          watchful. Your adversary, the
          devil, prowls around like a
          roaring lion, seeking someone to
          devour."

                    FATHER SOCORRO
I must ask you to leave now.

                                                                    24.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          James 4:7. "Submit yourselves
          therefore to God. Resist the
devil, and he will flee from you."

Socorro gulps nervously. He gets up but Salvador reaches in
and grabs him from the collar and pulls him back down.

Socorro drops his Bible and grabs onto Salvador’s arms.
Salvador pulls him toward him. Now they’re face to face.

We now see it’s Salvador.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
What are you doing? Don’t kill me,
          please.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
Padre... I’m not here to kill you.
I’m here to FREE you from this
evil inside of you. Within you!
          This incarnate that has stolen
your soul like a parasite. My Act
of Contrition, are not my sins.
Although, I have many, but not as
          many as you.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          Please don’t kill me. Help--

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
Shhh... No one will help you...
          Except me.

Salvador reaches with a free hand and pulls out a wooden
cross with embedded viles going up and down and also side
to side depicting the cross.

Each vile holds RED LIQUID (BLOOD) running through it.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
          What are yo doing? No!

It’s a fairly large wooden cross. Almost the size of his
palm.

Salvador moves the enigmatic cross over to Socorro’s
forehead.

                    FATHER SOCORRO (CONT'D)
          NO! NO! Please!

                                                                    25.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          Everything will be all right,
Father. Trust in me... trust in
the Lord Jesus. Trust in our
          Savior.

Salvador pulls out a small mirror with the other hand and
puts it in front so Socorro can see himself.

Socorro shuts his eyes. SCREAMING for mercy, that’s never
going to come.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
Nooooo! Noooo! Get that out of my
          face!

In the reflection of the mirror, Socorro’s eyes are
blackened. His skin a pale death color. He looks like what
a demon would look like.

Salvador places the cross on Socorro’s forehead. He begins
to recite a prayer. A prayer that goes faster and faster
until we don’t know what he’s saying, but what he’s
reciting is powerful as Socorro reacts to it.

Socorro SCREAMS in pain. Steam puffs out from the cross.

The RED LIQUID drains out but it doesn’t spill. It seems to
go into Socorro somehow.

                    FATHER SOCORRO (CONT'D)
          NOOOoooo! Aaarrgghh!

Socorro’s eyes flutter up and down. He convulses.

Like some supernatural magic, a DARK MIST floats away from
Socorro, like a SHADOW. An Evil Shadow.

The reflection in the mirror returns to normal. Socorro’s
pale skin becomes a normal tone. His eyes change back to
normal showing his human eyes.

Salvador removes the cross leaving an ashy smudge of the
cross on the forehead with a hole in the middle. Like when
you get a cross on Ash Wednesday, but bigger and with a
noticeable hole. Like a large syringe was stuck into his
skull.

A droplet of blood leaks out from the puncture wound
rolling down to the bridge of his nose. Socorro collapses
in his chair.

                                                                    26.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          You’ll be all right Padrecito.
Although, I will come from time to
time seeking your help. You will
be saved, but you must fulfill the
Lord’s commands. He will guide me,
you will supply your faith and
          absolve the innocent souls
          corrupted by evil incarnates
within them. If you disobey, your
soul will be condemned into the
eternal pit of fire for eternity.
This is your divine mission, but
you have free will and you may
choose at your own good judgment.
          What is your decision?

Socorro, collapsed in his chair with his eyes closed
answers back like if he were in a trans-like state.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
I will fulfill thy Lord’s commands
          and help the innocent.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          Open your eyes.

Socorro opens his eyes. It’s filled with white light. Good
light, that dissolves as he rises from the chair.
Socorro grabs Salvador’s hands.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
Thank you! Thank you, my son, for
releasing my tortured soul for all
these years. The evil I have
done... Oh my! The horrors I’ve
          seen.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
It’s okay, Padre. It wasn't you.

You were enslaved, but you’ve been
given a second chance. You did
good. We’ll do good. In this
          corrupt world we live in.

                    FATHER SOCORRO
Yes, my son. Yes, we will.

Socorro finally smiles. He seems less dark and more filled
with loving light. His clothes seem brighter and less dull.

His skin seems colorful.
Salvador does the Holy Cross on himself.

                                                                    27.

Socorro blesses him.

                    FATHER SOCORRO (CONT'D)
May you go with God, my son. I
look forward to seeing you again.

                    SALVADOR AMBRIOSO
          We will, Padre.

Salvador exits the confessional booth.

                       END OF ACT ONE
